How-To:
This page will be for How-To’s…there may be some for Windows, and there may be some for Ubuntu, I’ll try and make it very clear which are which, though I can’t imagine it’d be hard to guess
Install Firefox 3 Beta 2 in Ubuntu 7.10
This method describes the way I did it.
I downloaded the latest beta version of Firefox from here and downloaded it to the Desktop, then I did the following:
- I right-clicked the downloaded file, and chose “Extract Here”.
- Next - move the folder into your home directory, just to get it off the Desktop
- Right click the Firefox icon in the top panel and open properties
- Then edit the command option to say “/home/username/firefox/firefox” where username is the name you use to log on.
- Enjoy Firefox beta 2
There, it really is as simple as that, you can also update through Help > Check for Updates from within Firefox, if you feel I’ve missed anything please comment or email me.
