Somewhat annoyingly only a week and a half after I bought an HD DVD player…Blu-Ray emerges the victor of the High-Def Format “War”.
I’m not bothered though, as there’s still many films available for HD DVD
I read the rumors as I’m sure a lot of other people did over the weekend that Toshiba were pulling out of the HD DVD production, but I read the final news on the BBC News website earlier this morning.
So it’s been good, and in the end the superior (albeit more expensive) format won. Congrat’s, it’s just a shame it’s a Sony Corp technology.

I bought one
I’ve been wondering whether to get one for ages. Even though the format looks somewhat doomed, I figured if I could get one cheap then it’d be worth it, seeing as there’s still 400+ titles out for the format
So I bought the add-on for my Xbox 360, for £50 ($97 US) which is around half the retail price everywhere I’ve seen. The HD-DVD I got with it was The Kingdom. I’ve also got the following ordered though a couple are out of stock on Play.com:
I’m looking forward to getting them, as so far the picture has been brilliant (though I’ve seen Full Metal Jacket in “HD” and it was worse than the normal DVD) as my TV supports 1080p input
I may post short reviews of the films when I’ve watched them.

I watched this the other day. Now I’m a huge Family Guy fan, but also a huge Star Wars fan…so I didn’t really know what to expect, but I really enjoyed it, it’s typical Family Guy, the characters even kept their own traits throughout the episode (which is an hour long special!!)
I’d definitely recommend it toany fan of Family Guy. And whats even better than this? The fact that they’ve confirmed the sequel (Episode 5) as Family Guy: Something Something Something Dark Side.
I’ve got to say…I can’t wait until I get to see that one! And I’m hoping for Family Guy: Return Of The Griffins

I have to say, since I bought my new tv, and went back to using the component cable to connect my Xbox 360 (at 1080p as well :D) instead of the VGA Cable, I’ve noticed a significant increase in the picture quality of my DVD’s.
Now, I’ve watched movie’s on an HD DVD player at 1080p (full HD) before, and the image quality and sound is brilliant, I can’t say much for Blu Ray, as I’ve never watched a Blu Ray film as of yet. However, while my normal DVD’s are nowhere near the same quality as a proper HD source, the image quality is certainly FAR better than that of a normal DVD player.
I’m very impressed…I’m currently watching the Star Wars films on here - in what I call “Semi-HD”

Ok so I’m going to post a spoiler in a minute (I’ll set it to white font so you have to highlight it
I’m watching season 2 of Heroes now, we’ve just got to episode 7, and my god it was brilliant!! I have to say I never saw that ending coming.
SPOILER!!
So Hiro is in middle-ages Japan, with Takezo Kensei (not sure if I’ve spelt that right). But Kensei has seen Hiro kissing the princess, and now doesn’t like Hiro.
The fight, and it ends up with Kensei being blown up, and Hiro leaving for his own time. The princess tells him that as long as she lives, he will be Takezo Kensei.
So anyway - Peter Petrelli has to meet this Adam Monroe, and he does at the end of the show, who does it turn out to be? none other than - KENSEI!!! (the non-Hiro Nakamura version). Shocking I know!!!!!!!!!!!
END OF SPOILER!!
Ok so that’s it, sorry for the long post, but I had to put it somewhere, and I’ve not been able to talk to anybody I know about it yet.

I watched this on ITV2 earlier, quite shocked at the amount of swearing that was going on, until I realised that I’d be exactly the same, lol, so I can’t really blame them for that.
I don’t really believe in that kind of thing anyway, but it’s still fun to watch, and if somebody can give me conclusive proof that ghost etc. DO exist, then I’ll more than happily believe it on that basis.
